Arrest after Christmas Day roadside discovery of man’s body

Police believe a man in his 20s, found dead on the side of a far north Queensland road early on Christmas morning, was killed in a hit-and-run.

The man was located along Martyville Road in Martyville, just south of Innisfail, about 5.20am.

Following a Christmas Day investigation, a 27-year-old man was arrested at a nearby address.

He has been charged with driving without care causing death, and failing to remain at the scene of a crash.
