Australian Open 2025 LIVE updates: Thompson on the brink of defeat; Osaka storms back in style; Djokovic blows up

Never count Naomi Osaka out.
The former two-time Australian Open champion battled from a set down to claim a 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory over Czechia’s Karolina Muchova.
Osaka had lost her past two matches against the Czech player, but dug deep to get the win today.
“Man, I mean, honestly, it took everything, I felt like I left everything I had on the court,” Osaka said.
“Last year was really tough for me, I felt like I could have done better, but just to be on these court and on these arenas, it makes my whole year. I’m glad I am able to play another round.”
It’s the first time she’s qualified for the third round of a slam since giving birth to her daughter, and on her way out of KIA Arena she left a little note for fans on the camera lens – ‘I love you Aus’.
