‘Blood’-stained man arrested at scene of major incident at Werribee home, neighbour says

Police have arrested a man following the discovery of a woman’s body at a home in Melbourne’s south-western suburbs.
Emergency services were called to a home on Retford Close in Werribee just after 9am Thursday.
Police are at the scene of a serious incident in Werribee.
Officers arrested the man, who was known to the woman, at the scene. He will now be interviewed by police.
In a brief statement on Thursday, police said homicide detectives were still trying to establish the circumstances of the death but were not looking for any other alleged offenders.
Neighbours said they saw a helicopter hover above the area and police cars rush to the scene before officers cordoned off the street in both directions.
One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said she saw a man in front of the house with his clothing covered in what appeared to be blood.
“It was just awful,” she said.
Another neighbour said he often heard shouting coming from the house where the incident occurred and police had been frequently called to the address.
Ambulance Victoria confirmed it had responded to an incident in Werribee just after 9am on Thursday, but referred other questions to Victoria Police.
