Teal MP Monique Ryan’s husband Peter Jordan has been filmed removing a sign backing her Liberal rival Amelia Hamer and refusing to give his identity when confronted by a Coalition supporter.

A man filmed Jordan arguing that he was entitled to remove the sign because it had been placed on public land and refusing to say who he was when asked multiple times in the undated video.

The dispute between the teal MP’s husband and the Liberal supporter in the electorate reveal building tensions between locals ahead of a closely fought election in the marginal former blue ribbon Coalition electorate.

The man filming Jordan follows him down a street asking what he is doing, as the teal’s husband walks briskly away with Hamer’s placard under his arm.

“I’m taking the sign down,” Jordan says. When asked why, he says: “it’s on public land”.

Jordan is asked repeatedly who he is, with the man filming noting Jordan was wearing a teal shirt underneath his jumper.

“I’m not saying who I am,” Jordan responds several timers.

At one point, the man attempts to take the sign away from Jordan, who pulls it back before saying “if it goes back up, it’ll be taken down again.”

“It’s an illegally put up sign, anyone can take [it] down because it’s illegal.”
