Man charged with murder after woman found dead in home near Geraldton

A West Australian man has been charged with murder after a woman in her 40s was found dead in a home near Geraldton on Friday evening.

Police said emergency services were called to a home on Melbourne Street in Waggrakine, north of Geraldton, at about 6.25pm.

They had received reports that a serious assault had occurred there.

WA Police and St John Ambulance paramedics found the woman inside with serious injuries that she later died from.

The 21-year-old man from Spalding – who police say is known to the woman – was located near the scene and taken into custody.

On Sunday, police confirmed he had been charged with one count of murder. He will face the Perth Magistrates Court later today.
