A 62-year-old Footscray woman was found dead inside the house.

On Wednesday afternoon, a 35-year-old Footscray man was arrested at his home address.

He was interviewed by investigators and has been charged with one count of murder.

Investigators allege the woman was killed in the early hours of the morning of Wednesday, 27 November.

The house where the woman’s body was discovered is in an industrial area, with businesses on the street transporting seafood, produce and flowers.

People working at nearby businesses confirmed to The Age that the building housed a brothel.

On Saturday morning, forensic investigators were seen entering the house with equipment and paper bags before photographing the front of the premises.
