Man charged with murder of 15-year-old boy found in Sydney bushland
A 32-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 15-year-old boy who was allegedly stabbed in a physical altercation before his body was found in bushland in Sydney’s south-west.
The body of the teenager, who police believe was local to the Picton area, was discovered near Wilton Park Road, Wilton, at 7.25am on Saturday. His family have been notified.
After an appeal for information, a 32-year-old man presented himself to Narellan police station shortly after 4pm on Saturday and was arrested.
That man, Jacob Greig, has since been charged with murder and will face Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
“Detectives will allege in court the man stabbed the teen during a physical altercation,” police said in a statement.
Police earlier said the boy may have been camping with a group, which included “perhaps a dozen” people, and officers were interviewing a number of witnesses.
Acting Superintendent Tim Calman on Saturday said police believe “something’s happened on the Friday evening”. He said a call was made from a witness in the area on Saturday morning regarding a concern for the boy’s welfare.
Calman said the crime scene was under investigation, and there was “evidence at the scene” indicating the alleged incident had happened in that location. He said Wilton Park Road has “one way in, and one way out”.
Police have appealed for anyone in the area with dashcam or CCTV footage from 6pm on Friday to hand that vision to detectives.
