Two drown after being pulled from water at Great Southern beach

Two people have drowned after being pulled from the water at a beach in Western Australia’s Great Southern.

Emergency services were called to the Conspicuous Cliff beach, about 17 kilometres from Walpole, at 2.40pm on Saturday, with reports that three people were in distress in the water.

By the time police arrived the adults had been pulled for the water, and officers began CPR, but a 40-year-old woman and 44-year-old man could not be revived.

Another man, aged 42, was revived and taken to hospital by St John Ambulance.

Police said the three people were visiting the region from Perth.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
